We support your Museum

“Museums are a vital part of how we tell the stories of who we are, who we’ve been, and how we will live together. They maintain our cultural heritage and teach us about all the ways we are different and the same. Reflecting the diversity of that heritage is a critical part of museums’ work.”
- American Alliance of Museums

What We Fund

The Louisville Historical Museum is supported by your tax dollars, which provide funding for the facilities and staff. But some of our Museum’s most popular programs and it’s collection, require outside funding.

Since 2014, the Louisville History Foundation has been building support for local history and the Louisville Historical Museum.

  • We provide funding to print and mail the Museum’s quarterly publication to all members and business sponsors.

  • Museum workshops, talks, and other public programs, including Louisville History Month, receive funding support from the Louisville History Foundation.

  • The Louisville History Foundation provides funding to allow the Museum to acquire and conserve historic artifacts, including the Blue Parrot stained glass window.

SUCCESS STORY

The Museum Courtyard

The Louisville History Foundation funded a temporary pop-up park on the vacant lot of the Museum campus. The Museum Courtyard invites Museum visitors, local community members, and tourists to enjoy our Museum.
