About The Foundation

A dedicated group of volunteer Board Members meet monthly in support of the Louisville Historical Museum.

The Foundation sponsors community events featuring the Museum collection, Museum programs and services, and promotes these and other Museum efforts through our network and communication channels.

Our primary goal is to support the Museum through fundraising efforts. All memberships and donations directly advance the mission, purpose and programs of our Museum.

To stimulate broad-based support for local history and the Louisville Historical Museum and to encourage the development of the Museum through fundraising, advocacy, and education.

How We Got Started

The Louisville Historical Commission previously led fundraising for the Louisville Historical Museum. In 2014, the City of Louisville adopted a new commitment to separating the official advisory functions of City commissions from fundraising and advocacy functions. To continue fundraising for the Museum, the Louisville History Foundation was created.

Where We Are Now

The Louisville History Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit that serves as the fundraising organization for the Louisville Historical Museum.

Museum Expansion Project

Would you like to see a new building on the vacant lot of the Museum campus?

The City of Louisville funded planning and design for a new building on the Museum campus. This building would be built on the vacant lot directly north of the Jacoe Store on Main Street. We’d love your thoughts on the process and outcome of this substantial improvement to the campus.
